Frequently Asked Questions.

Where do I start?

Let’s chat! Call us at 805-409-7290 for a free 15 minute consultation. You can tell us a little bit about why you are looking for counseling, then we can determine if we might be a fit to work together and we can discuss whether our schedules align.

Do you take insurance?

Chelsie is currently paneled with Aetna, Optum, Oxford, Oscar, and United Healthcare. Associate clinicians are able to see Gold Coast/Carelon clients and are also able to offer lower out-of-pocket rates including lower sliding scale fees for services. Insurance providers may provide a full or partial reimbursement should you choose to pay out-of-pocket for services. We can provide you with a superbill which you can submit to your insurance to potentially receive a reimbursement. It may be helpful to call your insurance company ahead of time to ask about coverage for therapy sessions. A helpful question might be whether or not you have to meet your deductible prior to coverage being provided and if you have a copay.

Can I pay out-of-pocket for sessions?

Yes. Sessions with a licensed therapist are $175 for 50 minutes and sessions with an associate therapist are $135 for 50 minutes.

Are rates negotiable?

In short, yes! We want to make therapy accessible for those in need. We want to help individuals/families who cannot afford to pay the full rate by offering a lower fee. If you are seeking help, you do not have insurance, we are not in network with your insurance or you otherwise need to pay out-of-pocket for sessions and you are concerned about the cost, please make this clear in your initial consultation.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

There are no fees for appointments canceled with at least 24 hours notice. If you do not show to your appointment or you do not provide 24 hours notice prior to cancellation, you will be charged the full rate which was agreed upon at the time services commenced for the missed appointment.

Can you tell me what my child/spouse/significant other shared with you?

In most circumstances, no. We only share sensitive information when we have permission to do so, it is clinically indicated and it is necessary to assist an individual in moving forward with their treatment. We stick to these principles even when working with children as we believe the benefits of counseling are maximized when individuals feel safe and there is a strong foundation of trust. All therapists are required by law to report suspected child abuse and older adult abuse. Information may be shared if an individual is at imminent risk of harming themselves or others.
